Thanks to Whitetigle for the URL, this space conquest game will please a lot of players.
Subscription and connection are linked to your gmail account. The game use a simple and elegant flash client. This is a well thought and well realized project which seems to use google AppEngine (which is not so common in the webgame world).
The Game Play is reduced to the strictly necessary and I really like that. Don’t get me wrong, you can develop numerous strategies! However the core rules are simple and efficient. Games takes numerous days and one or two connections per day seem to be enough to follow them.
The game’s gfx are clean and do not come into the way: one illustration per race, circles, lines and a galaxy background. This is clearly not Aniii’s works (http://www.skywar.net) but it is enough to believe you are some alien life form.
For customized games (faster, on different maps, with different balancing and with your friends) you will have to win your free games to obtain credits or buy them using Paypal. Games are long and the price/play time ratio seems correct.
To sum up: Neptune’s pride is a really good game, well balanced and mainly free. Hot stuff!
PS: If Neptune’s pride is really hosted on AppEngine I am really curious to known the solution’s per game hosting cost. I would also like to know if google ads are enough to pay the bill:)
